New show pushes the mountain bike boundaries and continues
to bring the worlds of extreme TV and big brands together

Cannes Lions Festival 2017, Cannes, 19th June 2017 – INSIGHT TV, the world’s largest producer and broadcaster of adventure travel and extreme sports genres in true, unscripted 4K UHD, has partnered with Monster Energy, further highlighting its relationships with major brands as it continues to push the boundaries for extreme sports TV. The channel is showcasing Secrets of DarkFEST, a storytelling behind-the-scenes, no holds barred film that delves into the trials and tribulations of creating one of the world’s craziest and most gnarly mountain bike (MTB) events, Pure Darkness: DarkFEST co-produced with Monster Energy. Secrets of DarkFEST will be shown at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2017 from 19th – 23rd June.

Secrets of DarkFEST is a 60-minute film that captures all the drama and layered storytelling that comes with building a unique MTB course with insanely huge jumps over three weeks.

The narrative revolves around MTB hero and project mastermind Sam Reynolds.

DarkFEST has been Sam’s dream for the past five years and it took him and his core team countless hours to plan and prepare the course. Sam created this event with the riders for the riders with the goal of taking the sport to new boundaries while making sure everyone involved has the time of their life.  An event of this nature was only possible because these close athletes and friends came together as family to put 100 per cent of their effort into making the project happen.

The movie, which is all filmed in 4K UHD, features jaw dropping stunts and sees riders battling the elements on massive ramps including the 70-foot-tall roll in, on the spectacular southern tip of the African continent at Garden Route Trail Park in Knysna, South Africa.

INSIGHT TV’s partnership with Monster Energy allows it to bring the biggest extreme events featuring legendary crews and global social influencers to its viewers around the world.

DarkFEST is my own interpretation; an empty canvas to build my dream jumps and invite my friends to see how far we can really go. Seeing everyone come together as the best MTB riders in the world and progress the sport while having the time of their life has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” says Sam Reynolds, MTB rider and project Mastermind.
